How a piece is made

Every piece begins as a drawing and ends in the hand. In between, simple materials and a careful process.

The botanical logo and Goods for a quieter life laser-engraved into pale maple, with the wood grain showing through the linework.

Four steps

From drawing to keepsake

  1. Draw

Each design starts as a botanical study of pine, fern, cedar, shell, or wildflower, drawn in the manner of an old field guide.

  2. Set

The drawing is redrawn as clean vector linework, simplified just enough that its fine detail survives on wood and cloth.

  3. Engrave

The artwork is laser-engraved into natural maple, birch, or cedar, leaving warm, dark lines in the grain.

  4. Finish

Edges are sanded, and each piece is checked and wrapped by hand in kraft paper, cream tissue, and jute.
